SAJID Javid has resigned as Chancellor of the Exchequer as Boris Johnson carries out a post-Brexit cabinet reshuffle.
Mr Javid had been due to deliver his first Budget in four weeks’ time, meaning he will leave the Treasury without ever having delivered the set-piece fiscal announcement.
Several ministers have been sacked in Mr Johnson’s government shakeup.
Andrea Leadsom, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, has lost her position.
Huge thanks to my two superb special advisers, @marcpooler and @samanthadmagnus. They have worked flat out and been true public servants 🇬🇧

In other reshuffling moves, Housing Minister Esther McVey and Environment Secretary Theresa Villiers have also been removed from the government.
I’m very sorry to be relieved of my duties as Housing Minister
I wish my successor the very best & every success
I’m very grateful to the Prime Minister for having given me the opportunity to serve in his government & he will continue to have my support from the back benches

Attorney General Geoffrey Cox MP, who attended cabinet, was asked to resign by the PM.
I have been truly privileged to have served as Attorney General during the recent turbulent political times. I am now leaving the Government at the PM’s request. I shall continue to represent and stand up strongly for the interests of Torridge and West Devon. pic.twitter.com/Fo9SHLIe5i

Just weeks after helping to restore power-sharing government in Northern Ireland, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Julian Smith MP, has also lost his job.
Serving the people of Northern Ireland has been the biggest privilege. I am extremely grateful to @BorisJohnson for giving me the chance to serve this amazing part of our country. The warmth & support from people across NI has been incredible. Thank you so much.
