MORRISONS has set up 50 charging points at their stores nationwide, with a further 50 to be installed by the end of the 2019.
GeniePoint charging points can charge an average family car’s battery from flat to full in under 45 minutes which is ‘at least three times quicker than the standard charging points at other supermarkets’ and takes around 7 hours if using a typical ‘at home’ 7kW charger.
These higher specification 50kW+ rapid chargers provided by GeniePoint Network mean that a 20-30 minute charge will give drivers up to 100 miles of travel range.
“With electric vehicles on the rise, this is another way we can make life easier for some of our customers and support those looking to make the change to clean transport technology”, Andrew Ball, Morrisons Fuel Forecourt Manager, said.
“This green refuelling initiative for our customers, whether local residents or longer distance travellers, makes us the supermarket with the biggest network of rapid charging points for electric vehicles in the UK.”
The GeniePoint charging points use 100% renewable electricity provided by Engie from zero-carbon energy sources such as hydroelectricity, biomass, wind and solar power.
Customers can book in their charging slots on the free app, GeniePoint.
