PORTSMOUTH residents, businesses and organisations have the chance to help shape the council’s ‘Energy and water at home’ strategy.
Portsmouth City Council has published a draft strategy that aims to establish a common vision and approach towards achieving affordability and sustainability of energy and water for every household in Portsmouth.
Councillor Darren Sanders, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing said: “Too many of our city’s homes are not built to use energy-efficiently.
“That means too many people spend too much on bills, forcing them to choose between heating and eating while our planet suffers. That is wrong.
“While we currently offer a number of initiatives that help residents save energy and money, we want to ensure all homes in Portsmouth have the chance to use energy and water as efficiently as possible and no-one has to worry unnecessarily about their energy and water bills.”
The council will now consult with residents and other organisations in order to gather responses and feedback on the proposed strategy.
Based on this strategy, it will develop a detailed action plan.
