UK Energy Research Centre is seeking views from the energy community to help shape their Flexible Fund.

The programme includes a £3 million Flexible Research Fund that will be allocated via three open calls, anticipated to take place in 2020 and 2021.

The aims of the Fund are:

  • To provide flexibility for the UK Energy Research Centre research programme in the light of new scientific insights or developments in policies, technologies or industries.
  • To bring a wider range of researchers and disciplines into UK Energy Research Centre’s research programme, including researchers from outside the ‘traditional’ energy community.
  • To scope and develop new research agendas in partnership with funders, the research community and other stakeholders; and to promote integration in the UK Energy Research Centre research programme, and to fill gaps where needed.

The Centre wants to engage with the broader UK energy community and gather views on which topics should be funded under the first round of funding.

In order to ensure as wide a range of views as possible, the Centre is inviting individuals within the energy sector to submit their ideas online.

The Centre will also be hosting a workshop in early 2020 to scope and prioritise topics for the first call.

Any research supported under the Fund will be fully integrated with existing UK Energy Research Centre research.

Further information on our current research programme and the aims of the Fund can be found on their website.

The survey should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete.

A report will be written summarising the outcomes of the online consultation (no personal information will be published) and a workshop will be held in early 2020.
